Abstract
616,003. Frictional lighters. PERMUTA (PLASTICS), Ltd., P. A., and BUTLER, P. T. July 24, 1946, No. 22033. [Class 75 (iii)] The cotton wool or other absorbent in the wick compartment 7 of a pyrophoric lighter is fed with fuel spirit from an auxiliary tank 11 detachably held in the bottom of the lighter casing 1 and having a valve controlled conical outlet 14 engaging in a hole 10 in the bottom 6 of the compartment. The valve being operable from outside the casing. The tank 11 is secured to the bottom 6 by a screw 20 which may be hollow to contain spare flints 21 and which extends through a central tubular portion provided in the auxiliary tank, this tubular portion serving for the main charging of the cotton wool. A screwed plug 18 in the tank 11 may be removed through an opening 19 in the casing 1 when the tank is to be refilled. The valve 16 controlling the outlet 14 is operable by a screwed plug 15.
