Abstract

587,826. Mixing-machines. AKESSON, N. O. Jan. 18, 1945, No. 1526. [Class 86] [Also in Group XXX] A mixer for concrete, dough, and other material comprises a mixing container journalled on an axle on a tiltable yoke and a motor for rotating the container through gearing, the motor and the gearing being mounted in alignment with the axle together with a winding reel for the cables by which the charging ladle is raised and lowered, and the gearing being immersed in an oil bath. A mixing container 22 is mounted to rotate within a yoke 1 pivotally mounted in oearings 4, 5 and has a base formed by a drum 15 enclosing gear wheels 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, cooperating with an internal toothed rack 16. The gearing is driven to rotate the drum by an electric motor 9 mounted on the yoke 1 in alignment with a hollow shaft 12 which rotatably supports the drum. The yoke 1 and the container 22 are tiltable by a handwheel 34 through gear wheels 33, 32. Mounted on a central hub 11 formed on the yoke 1 is an axially movable reel 23 for winding and unwinding wires 24 by which a charging ladle is raised and lowered. The reel 23 may be moved by a hand lever so that it may rotate with the drum 15 through the co-operation of annular flanges 29, 30, or it may be moved so that annular flanges 28, 31 co-operate and brake the movement of the chute. In an intermediate position of the hand lever the chute is free to fall to the ground.
