Abstract

584,974. Fountain pens. BIRO, L. J. July 19, 1944, No. 13802. [Class 146 (iii)] The reservoir 5, feeder 6 and writing tip 2 of a fountain pen which are slidably mounted as a unit c within a barrel a, are normally held by a spring 9 in a retracted position with the tip 2 housed within an extension b of the barrel, and projected by a push-button 15 slidably mounted at the other end of the barrel, a catch securing the pen in such position until released. The catch comprises a projection 12 on the reservoir 5 which snaps into a slot 13 in the barrel under the action of a spring 14. Release may be effected by utilising the pocket clip 19 and providing a projection thereon registering with the slot 13. Alternatively a separate spring device for depressing the projection 12 may be provided. As shown, the nib section comprises a rotatable ball point 2'. Specification 584,975 is referred to.
