Abstract
579,468. Tubular heat-exchangers. MELTON, G. B., and PARRIS, C. W. April 17, 1944, No. 7043. [Class 64 (iii)] The walls of heatexchangers, e.g., economizers, heated by flue gases are formed of removable panels some or all of which are carried by, e.g., V-shaped members 3, Figs. 1, 2, 3, pivotally connected by brackets 1 to the centres of the panels and supported by hinges carried by brackets 2, 2a secured to the tube-plates 5 of the exchanger, so that the panels can be swung outwardly to facilitate cleaning of the heat exchange surfaces. The panels are provided on their outer surfaces with heat insulation 4a, and the gaps between the insulation on the adjoining panels are filled in by insulation carried by removable plates 6. Thus, the exchanger is provided with a smooth outer surface.
