Abstract

577,700. Pipe joints. STEVENS, G. C. June 27, 1944, No. 12188. [Class 99 (i)] A flanged' joint comprises a soft sealing ring 7 of high temperature resisting material such as linen fabric proofed with neoprene enclosed in oppositely disposed recesses in the flanges 3, 4, a spigot 8 on the flange 4 engaging a recess 9 in the flange 3. Pressure fluid from the pipe line is admitted to the sealing ring through passages 15 and groove 14 in the spigot. Alternatively the spigot may be external to the sealing ring, or the sealing ring recess may be in the spigot. The sealing ring may be of channel section.
