Abstract
577,609. Hydraulic apparatus. LIDDLE, J. R. Feb. 12, 1944, No. 2621. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group V] In a power press or the like of the kind actuated by crank and connecting-rod or like mechanism, pressure is transmitted to the ram through a pressure relief device in the ram comprising a cylinder 2, communicating through a relief valve 14 with a reservoir 8, and containing a piston 3, pressed outwardly by a spring 12, connected to the pressure-applying means 4. The cylinder is filled with liquid through a non-return valve 10. Should the ram encounter excessive resistance, the piston is forced into the cylinder and discharges liquid through the relief valve into the reservoir.
