Abstract
576,281. Conveyers. MENSFORTH, T., and BROWN & CO., Ltd., J. Feb. 4, 1944, Nos. 2126, 9859 and 9861. [Class 78 (i)] Apparatus for transferring material from a heap to a loading station, e.g., for moving worked coal from the coal-face on to a conveyer which transports it to tubs, comprises a vertical rotary member provided with a number of scoop-like blades the spaces between which are bridged by pivoted curved members. The rotary member 10, Fig. 1, is composed of two similar parts 32, Fig. 5, which are separated by a casing 33 housing a worniwheel 30. Each part 32 comprises a hub 41 and two spider members 40 which are provided with a number of radially-extending projections 42 having faces 43 to which scoop members 44 are welded. Ejecting members 47 are pivoted to the scoop members by a rod 46 and carry rollers 50 which travel over a cam member 51. The parts are designed so that at the point of discharge the flat undersurface of a scoop member is tangential to the curved surface of the following ejecting member. The shaft 31, which carries the rotors and wormwheel, has cutter discs 38 mounted on each end. A wedge-shaped member 34, Fig. 6, attached to the front of the casing 33 directs the material to the rotors 32. A ramp 35 is provided below each rotor for the same purpose.
