Abstract
576,236. Piles. WEST'S PILING & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., and BIRD, A. G. July 17,1944, No. 13630. [Class 68 (ii)] A hollow sectional pile is provided with an inter - nal hollow lining member b, which may also be sectional, the bottom of which contacts the shoe m of the pile and which is provided with an anvil o for receiving the blows of a drop, steam or pneumatic hammer a and transmitting them direct to the shoe. The top of the lining member is formed with a head k which contacts the top of the pile on the descent of the hammer and imparts cushioned blows to the top of the pile. The lining member may serve as a guide for the pile sections and for the hammer. After driving, the liner may be removed and the shoe filled with concrete.
