Abstract

562,316. Land rollers. SPARKES, R. G. Dec. 30, 1942, No. 18554. [Class 6 (i)] An appliance for converting a lorry V, or other power-driven vehicle, into a roller comprises a framework fitted with two substantially parallel rollers 8, the rollers being of such length and so spaced that they can be engaged and driven by the driving wheels of the vehicle. The framework may consist of side channel members 4 interconnected centrally by similar transverse members and may carry side rolls 9 to prevent lateral movement of the lorry wheels W. Each of the rollers 8 shown is divided into two sections and is provided with spring controlled scraping devices 11. The surfaces of the rollers are watered by sprinklers 20 supplied with water from a tank 18 attached to the rear of the lorry.
