Abstract
562,223. Two-part couplings. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., and MOOR, F. Feb. 16, 1943. No. 2581. [Class 38 (i)] The socket contacts of a coupling are mounted on an insulating body comprising a plate 11 having projecting therefrom a housing 15 for each socket 7, the socket being pressed against a shoulder 18 by a screwed ring 17 that overlaps a collar 24 formed on the mouth of the socket. The housings may be separate or may be formed in a single boss 12 on the plate 11. The ring 17 has a projecting rim of polygonal form to which a spanner can be applied. Washers 26 seated in grooves in the sockets prevent access to the contacts of filling compound introduced into the casing 1 through a plug-hole 20. The screw rings may be differently coloured or marked to identify the phases &c.
