Abstract

562,122. Chisels. BLAND, H. BARKER-. March 12, 1943, No. 4023. [Class 61 (ii)] A hand percussive chisel of the kind comprising a tubular body with a chisel bit at the lower end adapted to receive blows from a slidable plunger with a weighted head, has a detachable chuck 5 secured as by screwing at 4 on a chisel guide 3 welded in the lower end of the tubular body 1 for holding the bit 8 in the body so as to be readily interchangeable, the chuck having an annular recess 12 housing a spring 14 which holds a flange 11 on the bit up against the end of the guide 3. The plunger 15 is guided clear of the body 1 by a bush 2 welded in its upper end and the weight 25 on the extremity 23 is readily removable and replaceable by others such as 26, 27 by means of the screw stud 24.
