Abstract
562,098. Coating surfaces. ENGEL, W. Oct. 26, 1942, No. 15008. [Class 95] Surfaces are coated by applying an undercoat comprising a mixture of polyvinyl acetate and a cellulose derivative compatible therewith, followed by a top coat comprising a ureaformaldehyde or a melamine-formaldehyde resin. Specified cellulose derivatives are nitrocellulose and ethyl cellulose. Plasticizers and fillers may be addedto either layer, and a silicon ester may be added to reduce inflammability. The coatings are stated to be applicable to the wooden blades of airscrews, to sheets of paper, to gaskets, and to washers for jar closures.
