Abstract

561,728. Electric conductors. O'BRIEN, J. F. Feb. 17, 1943, No. 2628. Convention date, Jan. 30, 1942. [Class 36] An electric conductor is formed of a pair of conductors 14, preferably tubular, which are enclosed in a sheath 15, Fig. 4, of insulating material such as vulcanized fibre or like hard material. The sheath 15 is initially of ovate shape and is unvuleanized, and rollers 18 press the sheath to the dumb-bell shape, after which the fibre is vulcanized. The sheath 15<1>, Fig. 7, is first wrapped around the conductors 14 and pressed to the shape shown by a roller and anvil to form a flat side 20. Apertures for receiving securing screws are formed in the flat sides of the sheath 15, and the conductors may be connected to an outlet unit 12, Fig. 1, by means of wires fitting into the tubular conductors 14 and into sockets in the unit 12 which is shaped to engage the cylindrical parts of the insulator.
