Abstract

569,632. Screw conveyers. DAY, C. C., CROMPTON, J., and MIRRLEES, BICKERTON & DAY, Ltd. Aug. 4, 1943, No. 12560. [Class 78 (i)] A screw conveyer is driven through a ring disposed concentrically to it and connected to the flight. The conveyer casing consists of two portions 4, 5 having flared ends which are spaced apart and have bearing rings 8, 9 fixed to them. A driving ring 12 disposed between the rings 8, 9 is attached by a lug 13 to the flight of the conveyer 1, and is formed with slots 17, Fig. 2, which receive pins 18 mounted on a driving cuff 14. In a modification, the driving cuff transfers the endthrust exerted by the ring 12 to a stationary bearing member.
