The light - indicating member may comprise a mirror G mounted, in the path of the light beam through a tube B from a light source C and mirror D, on a pivoted bar F which is counterbalanced by a flap valve F<1> or similar member obstructively mounted in the path of the incoming air stream through the inlet A<1>. Failure of the fan that maintains the suction on the air stream, or of the light source C becomes evident on a screen H in a detector chamber A.
