Abstract

568,094. Screw conveyers KNOCH, H., and DRYFOOD, Ltd. March 16, 1943, No. 4254. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups II and V] The paste is fed into a hopper 3 and forced by a kneading and feeding worm 5 through a perforated plate 8 into a vacuum chamber 2, whence a worm 10 extrudes it through a perforated die plate 11. The worm 5 comprises helical blades 4 and an interrupted screwthread 6, 7. The worms are driven by separate electric motors 16, 17 adjustably mounted on slides 24 to vary the tensions in the drive belts 19. The motor 16 may be automatically cut out if over - feeding occurs.
