Abstract

566,538. Cleaning and etching ferrous abides. CLEVELAND GRAPHITE BRONZE CO. June 28, 1943, No. 10429. Convention date, Jan. 30, 1943. [Class 41] Ferrous articles, e.g. rolled steel strip, are cleaned and etched as anodes in an aqueous electrolyte containing ferrous chloride and hydrochloric acid (pH 1 to 5) at a current density of approximately 100 amperes per square foot of anode surface, employing carbon or other cathodes coated with wax to prevent or reduce deposition of iron on them.
