Abstract
558,207. Celluloid and synthetic resin dry battery parts. BURNDEPT, Ltd., and RICHARDSON, R. P. July 7, 1942, No. 9424. [Classes 2 (ii) and 2 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In a layer-type dry battery comprising shallow boxes 1 nested one within the other and each containing a double zinccarbon electrode 3, a bibulous layer 4 soaked in electrolyte, and a depolarizing layer 5, the electrode 3 of one cell makes contact with the depolarizer in the next cell through a hole in the bottom of the box, each box being formed with a shoulder 2 so that the bottom of one box nests within the top portion of another. The boxes are moulded with a shallow groove to accommodate a tapping lug on the electrode. The depolarizing lozenge is strengthened by an encircling tape of elastic material. The boxes may be made of celluloid, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polyvinylidene chloride, or olefine-polysulphide plastics.
