Abstract
1,020,171. Secondary cells. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. Jan. 28, 1964, No. 3513/64. Heading H1B. Treeing in an alkaline zinc cell is prevented by using as a separator a sheet that has a flat side adjacent the negative and conduits on the positive side to enable oxygen evolved there to contact the trees formed on the negative. The negative may be provided with a zinc compound reducible in alkaline solutions as a charge reserve. A nickel positive may be used.
