Abstract

557,239. Spectacles. FLEMING, R. J., and FLEMING, Ltd., J. & R. April 6, 1943, No. 5549/42. [Class 97 (i)] A sheet metal blank is so shaped that, when folded to form a hinge member, it comprises two parallel ears 19, 20 perforated to receive a hinge pin, a strip 21 connecting the ears, and rounded means to be received in the lens frame and secure the hinge thereto ; as shown, the rounded means comprises two pegs 22, 23 which are riveted in the lens frame. One edge of the strip 21 abuts against the lens frame. The other edge forms a stop against which the hinge member on the spectacle side may abut, and the ears 19, 20 extend beyond this edge. The lens frame may be of tortoise-shell or plastic material, and the side members may be of metal with or without a covering.
