556,103. Beams. SMITH, C. A. V., and ABELES, P. W. March 9, 1942, No. 3843/43. Divided out of 555,765. [Class 20 (iv)] Sections 1a, 1b of a reinforced concrete sectional beam or like load bearing structure are joined by a sleeve 2b or by side plates engaging grooves in the sections or by plates formed with projections or recesses engaging corresponding recesses or projections in the sections to present horizontal bearing surfaces normal to the load applied to the beam. The parts may be secured together by bolts 3 or by cement or mortar.
