548,032. Screw propellers. DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO., Ltd., GILLMORE, K. B., and WARDE, R. H. Dec. 5, 1941, No. 15736. [Class 114] A variable pitch air screw hub comprises a spider 5 driven by the shaft 4 and carrying the blades 12, and a one piece barrel 14 surrounding the spider and provided with bearings 21 and retaining plates 20 to hold the blades against centrifugal force. The blades may have secured to them internal sleeves 13 rotatable for pitch change on members 11 screwed on the spider arms 10. The sleeves 13 may be formed with gears 25 meshing with a master gear.
