Abstract
545,937. Vacuum distillation film evaporators. DISTILLATION PRODUCTS, Inc. Oct. 15, 1940, No. 15282. Convention date, Nov. 3, 1939. [Class 32] In high vacuum distillation processes of the kind in which the distilland is evaporated on moving, particularly rotary, surfaces, and the vapours evolved from different areas of the moving surfaces are separately condensed, the condensates thus obtained are separately removed from the condensing surfaces. The vaporizing and condensing surfaces are enclosed in a cylinder 10 having closure plates 12, 14 and evacuation conduit 16. The distilling surface 22 is mounted on a shaft 20 rotated by a pulley 66 and comprises a central and concentric annular zones 22a, 22b, 22c heated by electric heaters 30, 32, 34. The condensing surfaces comprise oppositely disposed annular rings 36, 38, 40 separated by annular spaces 42, 44. The upper and bottom halves of the rings are bent to form condensate collecting gutters 46, 50, 52, 54, 48 from which condensates are removed by gutters 82, 84, 90. The distilland is fed by pipe 80 to zone 22c. The vapours evolved are condensed on ring 40, the condensate is collected in gutter 48 and recycled by pump 88 and pipe 92 to zone 22b. The vapours from this zone are condensed on ring 38, the condensate collected in gutter 52 and recycled by pump 86 and pipe 88 to the central zone 22a from which in turn vapours pass to ring 36 and the condensate collected in gutter 54 is removed through pipe 82 as product.
