Abstract

532,895. Photographic de - sensitizers. KODAK, Ltd., and KNOTT, E. B. Aug. 15, 1939, No. 23472. [Class 98 (ii)] A gelatino silver halide emulsion is desensitized after exposure by treatment in a bath containing a 3:6-diamino-1:2:4:5-tetrazine in which the atoms or groups attached to the amino nitrogen atoms are hydrogen, alkyl such as methyl or ethyl, aryl such as phenyl or tolyl, aralkyl such as phenylethyl or acyl such as acetyl, propionyl, or benzoyl, preferably the unsubstituted compound. A. separate solution may be employed containing the free base, or a salt of the free base from which the base is liberated by alkali, such as the alkali of the developing solution, or the de-sensitizer may be incorporated in the developing solution itself, for example at least 0.0002 grams per litre. The unsubstituted compound is itself a developing agent.
