Abstract
531,196. Knives ; moulding plastic substances. RICHARTZ, P., and RICHARDS BROS. & SONS, Ltd. June 29, 1939, No. 19013. [Class 30] [Also in Group V] A knife handle comprises a part 15 formed by moulding on to a metal plate 10 which has apertures or gaps 11 so formed that the part 15 interlocks with plate 10 and extends through the gaps 11 and over a part of the opposite face of the plate, the mouldable material being forced into the mould after the plate 10 has been inserted. The gaps may be formed by pressed tongues 13 or by countersunk or lipped apertures. One end 19 is left clear for a metal bolster 25 which may be secured to plate 10 by riveting, soldering, or spot-welding or by embossing the plate 10. The material used may be a thermoplastic synthetic resin or material sold under the Registered Trade Mark " Bexoid " or " Erinoid." Specifications 414,973 and 446,164 are referred to.
