Abstract
446,164. Knife scales. RICHARDS BROS. & SONS, Ltd., and RICHARTZ, P., 202, Broomhall Street, Sheffield. Dec. 11, 1935, No. 34405. [Class 30] [See also Group V] A knife scale is formed by moulding plastic material around skeleton extensions of the bolsters. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a ribbed extension 12 is integral with the hollow sheet metal forming the bolsters 11 which are provided with clips 13 for securing the scale to the side plate of the knife. In a modification, the bolsters 15, 16, Fig. 7, are provided each with a skeleton extension, the scale being secured to the side plate of the knife by bent-over parts 21 of the extensions or by pegs 20 embedded in the plastic material 14. In some cases, lugs may be pressed out of an integral extension connecting the bolsters. The plastic material may be artificial resin such as phenol-formaldehyde, urea-formaldehyde, alkyl, and like resins.
