527,123. Spring surfaces. REYNOLDS, A. T., and TODE, W. F. March 31, 1939, No. 10179. Convention date, Sept. 12, 1938. [Classes 52 (i) and 52 (iv) ] A sponge rubber seat or mattress squab 2 is mounted on 'a diaphragm of stiff material 4, which may be perforated, with marginal supports of sponge rubber 14 which overlap the edges of the diaphragm to provide lateral cushioning. In the case of a mattress the surface may be divided longitudinally or laterally and the sponge rubber supports may be mounted on a removable frame having a sponge rubber buffer 48 on its underside. A pocket P may be formed along the sides into which the bedclothes can be tucked, the mattress ticking 56 being held therein by rods 58.
