Abstract
526,421. Stoppers &c. BLACK, S., and BARRACLOUGH, A. F. March 11, 1939, No. 6382. [Class 125 (iii)] [Also in Group XVIII] A portable vessel, for dispensing measured quantities of liquid is fitted with an upwardly inclined spout 4 having projecting into the vessel a downwardly inclined extension 14 carrying by a bayonet joint 18 an apertured sleeve 17 containing a steel ball 16. The vessel 1 has a closed integral top 2 and a removable bottom 5. The height to which the liquid rises in the spout 4 can be regulated by turning a semi-circular diaphragm 21 in the spout by means of a pin 23 slidable in a slot 24. When the vessel is tilted forwardly the ball rolls into contact with a seating 15 on the extension 14 and the liquid beyond it can be poured off. The bottom 5 is removable for refilling the vessel and cleaning the measuring device and may consist of two discs 8, 9 with an interposed rubber ring 13 which may be expanded into contact with a flange 7 on the vessel by means of a wingnut 11 on a stud 10 connecting the discs.
