511,547. Screwdrivers; spanners. ASPEEK, R. J., and HORSTMAN, Ltd. March 5, 1938, No. 7018. [Classes 61 (ii) and 61 (iii-] A device for loosening tight screws, nuts &c. or tightening them up applicable also to a drill or jumper for jumping holes in masonry &c. comprises a blade 10 formed as a screwdriver or provided with a box spanner and having projections 11 engaging inclines 18 at the forward end of a hollow handle member 12 in which engages a stem 14 on the blade provided with a peripheral groove 17 engaged by a stop screw 16, a spring 15 being interposed between handle and stem and the handle being fitted with inertia weights 20 or a flywheel tending to prevent its rotation so that when struck with a hammer a rotary blow is transmitted by the handle to the blade. Instead of the inclines 18 the handle may have spiral slots engaging with projections on the blade.
