Abstract

516,487. Drawing mechanism for spinning- machines. TWEEDALES & SMALLEY (1920),. Ltd., and BLOMLEY, F. June 29,. 1938, No. 19216. [Class 120 (ii)] Drawing mechanism for spinning machines has an endless belt for carrying the fibres. The belt is driven by a drum placed inside the belt and which is entirely separate from the bottom drafting roller. In the construction shown the belt C passes over an idler pulley D and the rounded surface h of a guide bar H placed immediately behind the front bottom drafting roller J. The belt is driven by a drum A on a shaft B driven from the gearing end of the machine; the surface of the drum may be convex and roughened. There may be a series of drums to drive several belts, and the idler D then has sections to correspond to the belts and the bar H has projections h' to guide them. A clearer roller K is held in contact with the belt by a spring L and the bottom back roller P is carried on an adjustable slide Q which carries the capbar shaft q on which is fixed the cap-bar finger q<1>.
