Abstract
476,470. Decorticating or stripping stalks or leaves. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F. Feb. 2, 1937, No. 3082. Convention date, Dec. 2, 1936. [Class 120 (i)] In a machine for obtaining fibres from jute or like long fibred plant stalks or the leaves of agaves or aloes, having a beating drum 2 and a breast 3, Fig. 2, the material is guided through the gap between the drum and the breastpiece by an endless conveyer 4 co-operating with a pulley 5 and driven from the drum 2. The conveyer 4 comprising a cable, chain or belt rotates over guide pulleys 6, 7, 8, Fig. 1, the pulley 8 being mounted on a shaft 8<1> and driven from a pulley 13 on the drum shaft 1 through a pulley 11 and worm gear 9, 10. The conveyer is tensioned by a spring-mounted clamping roller 16. The material is laid on the conveyer at the point a at about its centre and one half is thus treated by the drum 2. It is removed at b, reversed, and again inserted at a. The machine is provided with wheels or rollers for transport. Specification 112,207, [Class 120 (i)], is referred to.
