Abstract

504,218. Weather - excluders for sliding sashes; shearing metals. PERCIVAL, S. (Chamberlin Metal Weatherstrip Co.) Feb. 28, 1938, No. 6232. [Class 20 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] A tongue-and-groove weather excluding device for sliding sashes is characterized in the provision of tongues extending into grooves 9 in the sashes having parallel sided metal liners 14. The tongues may be formed on a liner attached to the frame and provided with shoulders on which the sashes slide. The meeting rails of the sashes may have tongue and groove interengaging parts 3, 4. The liners 14 may be fixed in the grooves by a tool 20, Fig. 6, having a cutting head 22 which by rotation cuts projections 19 in the channel, Fig. 5, and forces them into the wood work.
