[Class 52 (ii)] A writing desk convertible into a bed has a top 3 adapted to swivel on one of the pedestals 1, 2, and beneath the top a central part 5 of the mattress supported by hinged rods 10, with end portions 7 of the mattress supported in a vertical position. The pedestals are moved apart to enable the bed to be lowered and arranged flat between them, as shown in Fig. 4. The inside wall of each pedestal has a dropdown portion, the other walls being fixed. Bedding may be accommodated beneath the mattress within the pedestals when the parts are in the desk position.
