Abstract

473,560. Cooking-apparatus. WALL'S, Ltd., and BAYLISS, J. April 16, 1936, No. 10927. [Class 28 (i)] [Also in Group XXIX] A pressure cooking-vessel or digester has the lid or cover thereof provided with the usual combined whistle warning device and relief valve and with an additional safety valve in place of the usual fusible plug. The additional safety valve comprises a tubular body 3 with a nipple 3a for screwing into the cover, side discharge apertures 3e and an internal chamber 3c with a central recess 3d to form a valve seat. A disc 4 of leather, fibre or other non- metallic material is normally held seated in this recess by a spring 7 acting on the flanged head 5a on a rod 5 slidably mounted in a plug 6 screwed into the tubular body. The manipulating flange on the plug 6 has a cross slot 6a and the edge is chamfered to hinder unauthorized removal.
