Abstract

471,427. Electromagnets. WEBB, A. B. March 3, 1936, No. 6435. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXIX] An electromagnet for operating a valve D, has a slidable armature G loaded by a blade spring F, which is mounted in a lateral extension A<1> of the valve casing A and is externally adjustable by means of a screw F3, having a lock nut F<4>. The magnet casing H which is of magnetically conductive metal has a top plate I and a bottom plate J, the latter having a shoulder G<4> fitting in the cavity containing the head G<2> of the armature. The plate J is secured by bolts or the like to the valve casing A which is of non-magnetic metal. The plate J, the magnet core K, and a non-magnetic ring M are preferably welded together. The blade spring F is mounted in a plug F<2> screwed into the extension A<1> and engages a notch F<1> in the armature stem.
