[Class 135.] An electrically-actuated gas valve comprises a movable plunger 2 of non-magnetic material, such as glass, having a shell or mantle 3 of magnetic material freely movable within a glass casing 1 which is formed with a seating 5 for a closure surface 4 on the valve plunger 2. The casing is surrounded by a solenoid coil 7, as shown. In the open position the valve plunger 2 rests on a grid 6.
