Abstract
The bottoms of cooking-vessels intended for use with hot plates are formed from a corrosionproof alloy, for instance, an iron-nickel alloy containing 20-50 per cent of nickel in addition to constituents such as carbon, manganese, sulphur, phosphorus, chromium, cobalt, &c., having a coefficient of linear expansion lower than 8 x 10-6 and a coefficient of heat conductivity greater than 0,016 calories per cm., per sec., per DEG C. at temperatures between 50 and 400 DEG C. Examples of composition containing specific proportions of the constituents are given in the Specification. The strength, hardness, and coefficient of expansion of the alloy may be increased or decreased to some extent by thermal treatment or cold shaping or by both processes.
