Abstract

478,321. Pistons. CARPENTER, G., and ELECTRIC HOSE & RUBBER CO., Ltd. July 15, 1936, No. 19623. [Class 122 (i)] A piston of rubber &c. for pumps &c. comprises a double cup member having a central flange secured to the piston rod. The flange 9, Fig. 3, which may be reinforced by a metal &c. disc 10 is clamped between two washers 4, 6, spaced apart by a ring 8, which prevent excessive distortion of the flange. In an alternative construction, Fig. 5, the flange is of a hard and inflexible composition and is provided with a boss 9c into which the rod 3 is screwed and secured by a lock nut 7a.
