Abstract
477,570. Fanlight and casement windows ; frames. AUSTIN, C. B. Dec. 3, 1936, No. 33216. [Class 20 (iii)] A window of the kind having a fixed transome 22 and one or more hinged sashes 24, 26, making face-to-face contact therewith, is characterized in that the meeting rails 34, 36 of the sashes are rebated and make joint one with the other when closed. Overhanging weather strips 44, 42, 38 are preferably provided on the frame and upper meeting rails. The frame may be composed of members similarly rebated as described in Specification 446,729, and the hinges may be constructed as disclosed in Specification 464,933, [Group XXV]. The bottom sash may be retained closed by the rebated bottom rail of the upper sash and the frame may be subdivided by mullions, other fixed or hinged sashes 28 being provided.
