476,406. Coffee apparatus. DAVIS, H. G. Feb. 26, 1937, No. 5864. [Class 129] A coffee maker comprises an outer container 10, an open bottomed inner container 11 and a device 17 for holding the coffee grounds. In operation, water is placed in the container 10 and coffee in the container 17 which is then hooked to the member 16. The coffee grounds are pressed down by a flanged disc 18. As the water becomes hot, the container 11 is lifted so that the coffee grounds are out of contact with the water, but in contact with steam. The bubbling of the water as it boils, causes a striker 23 on the container 11 to give an audible signal. The coffee apparatus is then lifted from the source of heat and placed on the table. As the water cools, the container 11 sinks, bringing the coffee container into the hot water to make the infusion. The buoyancy of the water lifts the container 17 off the hook and it falls on the struts 24 at the bottom of the member 11. If it is desired to reheat the coffee, the steam generated in the container 11 again lifts the coffee grounds clear of the water during boiling.
