[Class 83 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] In apparatus for heating or cooling liquids in a vessel surrounded by tubes d containing the heating or cooling medium, profile metal rods c are welded between the tubes, and the space between the walls of the vessel and the tubes and rods is filled, for heat conduction, with a metal or metal alloy of low melting point which is solid at the normal working temperature, but which melts, when heated above this temperature to produce a solid metallic union between the tubes and their support.
