[Class 110 (ii)] An apparatus for pumping blood, or other fluid, comprises a flexible tube 29 operated upon by a roller 13 on a crank disc 6 by means of a handle 10. Fig. 1 shows the apparatus with a part 18 slid back from a block 3 to allow the insertion of the tube 29, rings 32, 33, entering grooves 34<1>, 34. A handle 26 is then turned about spindles 25 and causes eccentric pins 48, in slots 49, to move the part 18 along guide pins 16, 17, close to blocks 3 so that curves 22, 21, form a circle around the tube. The two ends of the tube lie in different planes. A hodometer 27 is attached to record the number of revolutions made by the roller 13, through a link 28 and an eccentric 28<1>. The roller 13 may be adjusted with respect to the tube by means of a worm 35 and wormwheel 36, operated by a screw-driver, the bearings of the spindle 12 being eccentric to the spindle. Similarly a worm 51 is used to adjust the bearings of the spindles 25 in order to secure a close fit between block 3 and the part 18. To prevent rotation in a reverse direction, a ball 38 bears against the periphery of the disc 6, when a cam 46 is turned to allow a spring 42 and piston 39 to push the ball 38 as a second piston 40 is retracted. A screwdriver 37 is attached to the pump, and accessories or instruments are contained in a removable bottom.
