Abstract

425,213. Brassieres. BOIARDI, J. P., 2, Gloucester Place, Portland Square, London. May 29, 1933, No. 15459. [Class 141] The breast pockets of a brassiere are formed from triangular pieces of fabric combined into the form of a pyramid, each triangular element being adapted to stretch in the direction of its height. The fabric may be crocheted with continuous rows of stitches 15, rendering the fabric substantially non-resilient in a direction parallel to the base of the triangular element, joined by staggered stitches 16 to form rectangular meshes, which will deform into hexagon shape to provide resiliency in the direction of the height of the triangular element ; or a fabric, knitted in known manner to give resiliency in one direction only, may be used. The triangular elements may be formed separately and secured together along their adjoining sides, or may be formed integrally. They may be isosceles or equilateral, their apex angles summing to less than 360‹, and are preferably five in number arranged as shown. The triangular element forming the outer extremity of each pocket may be extended as at 12 and connected by an elastic strap 13 to a button 14 on the lower edge of the other breast pocket, the lower edges being strengthened by a non-extensible band. Adjustable shoulder straps are provided. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 378,509 and 403,418.
