[Class 140.] Paper towelling comprises a facing 1 of woven gauze, e.g. cotton gauze, a body 2 of absorbent cellulosic material, e.g. thin sheets of absorbent paper, and a backing 3 of non- absorbent cellulosic material, e.g. thin sheets of non-absorbent paper, the whole being caused to unite into a single sheet by locally applied mechanical pressure, e.g. by impressing a pattern 4 over the back of the layers 3. Specification 349,139 is referred to.
