406,904. Vehicle wheels. MICHELIN ET CIE, Clermont-Ferrand, Puy-de-Dome, France. June 24, 1933, No. 18082. Convention date, July 26, 1932. [Classes 144 (i) and 144 (ii),] In rims of the type comprising a detachable sideflange 2 secured by a split ring 1 engaging a groove 3 in the rim-base 11, the surfaces 7, 4 of the flange 2 and groove 3 respectively, and the co-operating faces of the ring 1 are inclined to the vertical with the angle alpha greater than the angle alpha<1>. The operative limb of the ring 1 is thus of outwardly-converging wedge-section so that the inflation-pressure of the tyre tends to lock the ring in the groove. Fig. 2 shows a tool (not claimed), for use in assembling the flange 2, comprising a lever 9 with notches to receive the edge of the flange and a pivoted arm 13 adapted to engage pins 8 on the rim.
