Abstract
382,803. Detachable wheels. MICHELIN ET CIE, Clermont-Ferrand, Puy-de-Dome, France. Dec. 21, 1931, No. 35340. Convention date, Jan. 17. [Class 144 (i).] A mounting for a detachable wheel of the kind having an annular seating on the brake drum, or other equivalent flange associated with the permanent hub, comprises an annular member on the wheel or its carrier which is yieldable and carries or has formed on it teeth which engage with corresponding teeth on the carrier or wheel. As shown in Fig. 1, the annular member comprises a corrugated member 5 secured to or integral with the brake drum B and having teeth 4 engaging with teeth 3 on an extension 2 of the wheel disc C, a ring 6 protecting the teeth. In Fig. 2, the member consists of the corrugated extension 2 of the disc C. In a modification, Fig. 7A, the extension 2 is carried on a member 11 which is mounted on a rubber ring 12 secured to the disc C. In a further modification both the wheel and the carrier are provided with an annular member. The member may be made integral with the wheel, the disc C then being corrugated.
