Abstract
405,473. Exercising-apparatus. SACHS, J., 119, Merrill Avenue, Jamaica, New York, U.S.A. March 11, 1933, No. 7481. [Class 132 (i).] An exercising-apparatus comprises a pair of carriages mounted for parallel reciprocating movement in opposite directions, each having a foot supporting platform hinged at one end and adjustably supported at its opposite end to present horizontal or inclined supporting surfaces. As shown, on a base A provided at one end with a pair of jackscrews 16 are mounted a pair of foot-carriages B, C, each consisting of a plate 20 having front and rear pairs of rollers 21, 22 by which the carriages B, C may be moved respectively in guideways formed on the baseboard A. Guide rollers 25 on vertical axes engage the faces of the intermediate and marginal strips dividing the baseboard A into the guideways. Each carriage B, C includes a foot-supporting platform 30 hinged at 32 to the plate 20 and provided with a leg 33 having vertically spaced holes 34 adapted to receive a pin 37 retained by upstanding ribs 38 on the plate 20. A cable 40 is attached to the front ends of carriages B and C, and a cable 41 is attached to the rear ends of carriages B and C, the cables 40, 41 passing round pulleys 44, 47 respectively. The front of the cross-member 15 is provided with a resilient buffer strip 48.
