Abstract

466,901. Exercising - apparatus. LANDON, L. W. Jan. 3, 1936, No. 234. [Class 132 (i)] A rowing-machine comprises a single tubular rail 1, a footboard 3 detachably bolted to the portions 2 thereof, extensible members 7 detachably secured to a cross tube 4 passing through the extension 1c, 1d of the rail, and a sliding seat 12 having two longitudinally disposed rollers 14 of hard rubber, fibre &c. running on the tube 1, and two transversely arranged wheels 16 to run on the floor to keep the seat horizontal. Non-slipping feet 5, 6 are fitted to the rail 1, which may comprise detachably connected parts 1a, 1b, and a stop 17 limits the rearward movement of the seat. The portions 2, 1c, 1d of the rail is maintained in the vertical position by the convex footboard 3 which rests on the floor and has upstanding strips secured to the rear thereof between which the rail part 2 is nested. For other exercises the footboard 3 is detached and the extensible elements are anchored thereto, so that the user may pull upon the handles 8 while standing on the board.
