Abstract
404,448. Discharge lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London.-(Assignees of Patent Treuhand- Ges. f³r Elektrische Gl³hlampen; 11 Ehrenbergstrasse, Berlin.) Dec. 19, 1932, No. 35979. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] To facilitate starting, a metal network 8 of thin wires and of mesh so wide that it does not substantially decrease the light radiation is fitted closely on the outer wall of the tube, and may be connected to either or both of the electrodes 6, 7 directly as at 9 or through resistances. The network may be itself divided into sections which may be connected together through resistances. The electrodes 6, 7 may be heated by the discharge current or by auxiliary heating means. The envelope 1 may be transparent to ultra-violet rays, or may consist of a fluorescing glass. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 314,898 and 323,244, [both in Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc &c.].
