Abstract
High-frequency cables are insulated with a composition consisting of a mixture of rubber, preferably of the highest possible caoutchouc content, and a solid cyclic hydrocarbon, such as naphthalene, in amount not substantially less than 10 per cent. Suitable proportions are 30 per cent rubber and 70 per cent naphthalene. The rubber may be applied to the cable, vulcanized and immersed in the molten hydrocarbon until it has absorbed the desired amount. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 4234/81, [Class 70, India-rubber &c.].
